Clickety Clack – Day 2

Today is the real challenge. I’ve been busy ticking what seems like a million things off my to do list. To top that, I’ve very dear friends coming over for dinner and chatter. Also, having had an almost entire day (Friday) of no power a terrifying thought just occurred to me! What if life is really imitating art? I better tape my damn mirror’s mouth shut!!! Anyway, day 2 and I’m writing this as my little devil is busy turning the house upside down; 2 challenges in one: not only do I have to write, I have to do it with the added hurdle of multiple distractions. What fun!

Shaoli looked back in terror. Her mirror had just offered her company. Her lips let out a tentative “hello?” even as her brain tried to rationalise what had just happened. She turned around, and there, staring right back at her was her reflection. Well, not quite her reflection. It looked like her alright, but dressed very very differently. Shaoli was dressed in the aforementioned three day old smelly pair of shorts and a raggedy tee. Her reflection on the other hand had a very boho chic thing going on. Her wild tresses had been tamed into a stunning mop of curls atop her head. Bright green elephant print palazzos, a flowy white cropped top and a nice multi coloured stole completed a look that Shaoli had only dreamed of pulling off before.

As Shaoli took in her reflection's perfectly done bright red pout and her doe like eyes, her amazement that she ( her reflection at least) could look so stunning fought with her sense of unhinging at what exactly she was seeing. "You could shut that gaping hole you know! Flies are getting sucked in" her reflection pointed out boredly, prompting Shaoli to then open and close her mouth like a goldfish not quite knowing what it is she was supposed to do.

Finally she managed to utter a very calm and collected " wha..who..wha...uhm..hi?"

Said reflection looked back and said "Hi to you too, I've been waiting for you to take notice for a while you know. It's been quite frustrating trying to catch your attention what with all the partyng and passing out and working and you know just you being you" with an air of being quite miffed albeit a little relieved.

By now Shaoli had just asked her brain to take a fucking hike and decided to play along ; what with how she looked so damn good being too much to process anyway.

" I'm  s..s..s..sorry, I never noticed you I guess"

"That's one of the problems isn't it? You're so full of your own problems, you don't really notice much of what others go through around you" Her reflection continued to sulk.

"So you're bored of this room. What would you like to do?" Shaoli had decided the safest approach that would preserve her sanity was to pretend this was all just in the course of a normal day and to just get to the point. The whys whats hows could hopefully happen later. Plus, this was the most amazing thing to have EVER happened to anybody she knew of and she really wanted to see where this went.

"Of course I'm bored of this room. Why, even you can't take much of it, always itching to get out of the house". Her reflection did have a point.

"What would you like to do instead? I can't lug around a mirror, a full length one at that, wherever I go"

"You haven't tried" reflection tried the sulk again seeing what good results it had gotten up until now.

Shaoli gathered all her courage and raised one eye at her reflection, tapping her foot impatiently.

"Fine. I get it, you can't carry the mirror around"

"Right. I could move the TV here if you'd like" Shaoli offered graciously

"Naah, I have a better idea. Go bring me those crystal earrings you like so much"

Wishing she could have worked up the guts to say no, Shaoli went and brought her absolute favouritest earrings in the world out..her pair of yellow crystal earrings.

"Go on, put them on" Her reflection prompted

Gingerly, Shaoli snapped them on and went closer to her mirror.

"Come closer, let me seeeee" "Bring your ear closer..liiittle more"

"Aaaaaah"  Shaoli screamed as she felt her earrings meld into her skin. A searing she had never felt before and.

"Ooooh Wow..this is soooo much better" Shaoli's earrings quipped.
