Clickety Clack - Day 5

So there..my continuous streak lasted all of 4 days before I just had to take a break. The running after the little devil coupled with the terrible Bangalore summer got to me so that I couldn’t move a finger without it exhausting me enough to sleep it off! Anyway, almost 24 hours of a snooze fest later, I am feeling much better.

Vyas indeed had called and Shaoli just didn't know what to do.

Shaoli tried to stay in the present, concentrate on keeping up sane appearances. S2’s constant chatter right in her ear however, relegated everything else to a distant background. Also jostling for space were her desires to call back Vyas and hide from him forever! Ugh..how she hated these messy situations. Another reason, she reminded herself, it pays to be mostly solitary!

Vyas was a colleague she had met at one of her smoke breaks at work. Not having carried a light, she had asked the only other person for one. As if he had read her desire to completely avoid any conversation unless absolutely required, Vyas had decided to not only give her company that day, but had continued chatter in the face of almost being stonewalled! Either he was really lonely or just liked a good challenge. Whatever it was, by the end of that smoke, Shaoli had decided it didn't do her bodily harm to voice a response from time instead of in her head.

That first conversation later, Shaoli surprisingly found herself sharing a smoke break with Vyas too often to be coincidence. Not wanting to make things uncomfortable though, she decided to not bring the fact up, instead enjoying a friendship that was surprisingly devoid of social awkwardness and rich in the plethora of things they could talk comfortably about. It soon became a common sight to see Shaoli, of all people, guffawing at some madcap joke Vyas cracked. It also expanded her social circle to a group of people that she could go so far as to call friends; people that generally hung out with Vyas. Soon enough, Shaoli realised with astonishment, that she also had a "social" persona that she didn't feel too uncomfortable being. Well for short spurts anyway.

"Hey..Heyyy...HEYYYY"

Shaoli was brought back to the present. "What" She whispered, contorting her lips the best she could, ensuring sound travelled mostly back to her ears!

"Have you been listening to anything at all?"

"Of course I have. It's not easy to ignore your ears making noise you know"

"Ha Ha. Pretty good job you managed of it anyway. Tell me then"

"Tell you what?"

"See? I told you. You weren't listening" S2 sulked

"Alright, I wasn't. I'm sorry, I was pre-occupied"

"You know that's exactly the ind of behaviour that spawned me right?"

Shaoli's eyes widened with horror. She had fleeting visions of carrying various thought babies contained in various parts of her clothing, each with its own loudspoken opinions.

"Ye...es, thank you for the reminder"

"Getting back to the point, tell me now. Do you think we should actually move the tv to the bedroom? It would be nice to watch some while you're away at work."

"We?"

"!"

"Yes, we could."

"Yay! Now what are we  doing here today? Why aren't you looking at anything? Hey see that pair of heels? Aren't they just awesome? Come on, try them on"

And the day wore on! No respite in sight, Shaoli decided to get set shopping.
